APPLE CREEK FISHERY AT GROSJEAN PARK, WOOSTER, OHIO October and November, 2011.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the stocking of Apple Creek on Saturday, October 15 and Saturday, November 19. Over 1000 rainbow trout were stocked plus litter was picked up along the stream by the more than 60 volunteers from CFRTU. See member pictures!! The October stocking was followed by two days of fly fishing clinics for novice fly anglers and supported by an angler outreach grant provided by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. These were the 14th and 15th stockings of Apple Creek at Grosjean Park and the 7th year of making this fishery available to the public.

As in the past, we are encouraging anglers to use flies and artificial lures and to practice Catch and Release. IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANGLERS NOT FOLLOWING THESE PRACTICES, it is appropriate for you to let them know that 1) fish are being stocked by the Clear Fork Chapter of Trout Unlimited, 2) there is a limited supply of funds to purchase and stock trout in Apple Creek, and 3) Trout Unlimited wishes to sustain the trout fishery for anglers as long as possible.

If you encounter someone abusing the fishery and deliberately ignoring state fishing regulations, please call 1-800-POACHER and report the infractions. Remember, YOU MUST HAVE A VALID OHIO FISHING LICENSE to fish Apple creek. All it takes is a few fishermen abusing this fishery to spoil it for everyone. Please be willing to stand up and protect the stream and the trout for the sports fisherman. IF YOU OBSERVE ANGLERS VIOLATING OHIO FISHING REGULATIONS, PLEASE CALL THE WILDLIFE OFFICER FOR WAYNE COUNTY, JASON WARREN, AT 330-245-3046 AND REPORT INFRACTIONS TO HIM. YOU CAN ALSO CALL 1-800-POACHER.

We hope that everyone continues to enjoy this fishery!!

P.S. Recently anglers have noted makeshift campsites in the park. Please report these to the Parks and Recreation Dept. at 330-263-5215.
